Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)

The tax ID of the business entity a provider bills under, used in MRFs to group providers that share a contract.

Contracts between plans and providers are usually signed at the business-entity level, so MRFs list a TIN, either an EIN or the provider's own number, together with the NPIs billing under it.
